It’s no secret that running has become a huge hobby for so many people, and for good reason. Our Track Day with Girls On The Go was a chance to bring girls in our communities together through that hobby, for a day of unity and support.

Offering weekly classes and events, the Girls On The Go team creates spaces for women to come together and build community. The Track Day event we ran together did exactly that, and gave the girls a chance to connect in a fun, interactive way.

Events like these are important in making running feel more accessible to women, and showing them that they’re welcome in spaces where it may not always feel like that are.  “I think it’s [community] important because there’s a lot of spaces that women probably don’t feel comfortable in,” said Girls On The Go run leader Heidi, adding, “I think when you’re around other girls, especially girls like these, it does empower you.”

The day focused on 100-200m speed runs, races and a final relay, all supported by an electrolyte break from Per4m Nutrition.

On the day, Girls On The Go run leader Madeline said, “I hope the women today achieve something that they didn’t know they could do (...) and to walk away from it and go ‘oh my god, I’m so proud of what I achieved today’ because that feels so inaccessible to so many people”, going on to say, “I want them to leave feeling proud and empowered and like they’ve absolutely smashed it.”

Talking about why she loves events like these so much, Girls On The Go run leader Shreya said, “I would say this is the perfect place to make new friends (...) I love running and running with people has just made it so much easier”, with some attendees adding, “It just feels friendly and supportive, it doesn’t feel like you’re going to get left out (...) no-one’s going to leave you behind
