In a kitchen in Kirkby, Liverpool, friends Daniel and Kieran spot a gap in the sportswear market. To fill it, they create Montirex, starting with three t-shirts featuring a pattern that goes on to become one of the most recognisable prints in Liverpool: Trail. They soon move out of Kieran’s mum’s kitchen and into their first 300 sq ft office.

As the brand starts to take over the streets of Liverpool, Montirex becomes a registered trademark before being approached by Footasylum to launch in stores. The brand’s continued growth leads Daniel and Kieran to quit their day jobs and dedicate themselves to Montirex full-time. They then move into their second office (800 sq ft) and third warehouse (3,000 sq ft), growing the team to two employees.

The Montirex product catalogue continued to expand with the launch of its juniors range in October 2021. Meanwhile, the Montirex athlete roster began to grow with the signing of its first athlete, Leon Edwards. The team also expanded, growing to six employees.

In 2022, the brand reached 100,000 online orders, a huge milestone to celebrate. The product offering also expanded into womenswear as the brand moved into its fourth warehouse, spanning 18,000 sq ft. The team continued to grow too, reaching 28 employees.

Montirex continues to expand in stores, launching in JD Sports across the UK and Ireland. The Montirex team also continues to grow, reaching 48 employees. As a result, the brand outgrows yet another premises and moves into its new headquarters in Speke, Liverpool (52,000 sq ft).

Already stocked in stores across the UK, Montirex opens its first retail store in the brand’s home city of Liverpool. This comes alongside the launch of The Montirex Foundation and the Montirex App. The team continues to grow, reaching 89 employees.

While Montirex ranks number 18 on The Times list of the UK’s fastest-growing companies, Daniel and Kieran are also named in the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 list. The brand now grows to 125 employees, with plans to continue expanding in the future.
