After the training’s done and the crowd settles, all Giorgio wants is a taste of home. A reminder of where he came from, and how that all adds up to make him who he is today.

When we talked about getting Giorgio Visioli involved in our ‘For The Moments’ summer campaign, we wanted to keep it true to who he is, both as a person and as a fighter. Starting at Repton Boxing Club, we were transported back to the very beginning of Giorgio’s career, stepping into the club where he won the England Boxing National Amateur Championship at lightweight in 2022.

“It always feels special coming back to Repton Boxing Club,” says Giorgio. “It’s the club where I won my first national title and went on to win many more. That’s why, out of every club I’ve been to, Repton will always mean the most to me."

It’s clear from his career so far that Giorgio is always focused on putting in the hard work and graft. “When I’m preparing for my next fight, I’m always working to be in the best possible shape I can be. The work goes into making sure every hook is strong and every jab is effective.”

Just an 8 minute walk from Repton Boxing Club is a slice of Italian heritage, and Giorgio’s favourite Italian café in London, E. Pellicci. As the UK’s oldest family run café, E.Pellicci has been serving the Bethnal Green area since 1990, and it’s no wonder Giorgio comes here for reminders of his Italian heritage, with a classic interior and a family feeling as soon as you step inside.

Knowing that I’ve got my family behind me, both in London and in Italy, really keeps me going in the ring”, said Giorgio when we talked about the importance of heritage, adding, “my grandparents especially always taught me to be proud of who I am and where I came from, and that helps me every single day.”

As a boxer with a lot of pride about where he came from, it was clear to us that Giorgio felt deeply connected to this place.

It means a lot to know that I’ve got places in London that remind me of my heritage. Coming back and connecting with other people from the same background helps to keep me grounded and remind me what I’m doing it all for.”
