OPEN DOOR
Driven by an unshakable mission to improve access and shift perceptions around mental health support, Open Door is a charity with big ambitions. Based in Birkenhead, their work involves supporting young people across the Liverpool City Region who are dealing with mental health challenges, like anxiety and depression. A lot of these young people have disengaged from traditional clinical services, or never engaged to begin with, often because of barriers that feel overwhelming. With a 13-year track record of transforming lives, Open Door delivers free, fast, and effective support through inclusive communities, welcoming non-clinical spaces and based programmes.
We are incredibly grateful for funding and support from The Montirex Foundation, which we will use to expand our group activity offer, in our brand-new home, Joy. Through the funding, we will deliver group activities that appeal to different interests, and act as an entry point to our spaces, enabling those hesitant to ask for help to become comfortable at Joy and aware of the support available.” “Through our work we consistently see young people grow in confidence, regain a sense of control, and develop the skills to manage their mental health, and we are excited to partner with Montirex to grow our offer.” Find out more about Open Door on their website.

JAMES' PLACE
“At 3am one morning, I realised I had a choice: find some help or end my life. I started googling and came across James’ Place. My therapist was excellent and made me feel very comfortable. I liked that it was just for men; that made me feel more relaxed. It’s been a really helpful experience, and I still attend James’ Place now as part of a peer support group. It was what I needed to help me come out of my crisis and see a future again.” – Nick, former James’ Place client.
James’ Place is a suicide prevention charity offering free, rapid access to life-saving therapy for men, like Nick, who are in suicidal crisis. The incredible work they do is, unfortunately, extremely urgent. Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 35, with men also being three times more likely than women to die by suicide.“James’ Place started in Liverpool, where our first centre opened in the Georgian Quarter in 2018. Our work here showed that our unique intervention saves men’s lives, and we have now opened James’ Place centres in Newcastle, Birmingham and London. We’ve helped over 5,100 men since 2018. ”We are delighted to be working with Montirex. Their support will help save lives across the Liverpool region.”
